EXPANDER SEALS – PULL-STYLE KOENIG EXPANDER® MODELS

Pull-type KOENIG EXPANDER seals provide industry-leading reliability in an easy-to-install, one-piece design. These expander seal plugs, also known as CV plugs, are available in stainless steel, case-hardened steel and aluminum and in a wide variety of sizes. With more than 3 billion parts installed and field failure rates less than 1 PPM, KOENIG EXPANDER seals provide proven performance and an industry-leading metal-to-metal seal solution.

These seals use an integrated mandrel to insert the expander seal into a drilled hole, and do not require the hole to be counter-bored. During installation, the mandrel extends from the top of the expander seal plug. The KOENIG EXPANDER is inserted in the hole, and force applied to the mandrel expands the plug’s serrated shell against the walls of the hole, producing a tight seal. The mandrel breaks away and can be discarded once the proper tension has been reached.

Since they can be easily aligned, pull-style KOENIG EXPANDER seals are ideal for angled channels. This type of expander seal is also used in applications where holes are on different faces and it is difficult to move the block for proper orientation.
